Manual Machinist

QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of general machining processes and machine capabilities. Knowledge of materials and their characteristics such as aluminum, titanium, steel and plastic. Able to read prints, tolerances and symbols. Knowledge of measuring devices and their uses. Must have high degree of shop math & should be well versed in GD&T/ASME Y14.5M-1994.
The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, self motivated, able to work closely with all personnel and exhibits good time management skills. Possess the ability to be accurate and systematic in approach, even when rushed.
DESCRIPTION:
Set up and operate a variety of manual machines & tools to produce precision parts, fabricate & modify to print. High degree of shop mathematics, metal properties, and machining procedures. Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics Skilled at setting up vises and proper part holding.
Measure parts in order to ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments. Have the ability to troubleshoot and come up with quick fixes.
Set up, adjust and operate all of the basic machine tools, fixtures and many specialized/advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
Monitor the feed and speed of machines during machining process. Make fixtures & tooling to meet engineering needs.
Works closely with shift managers to maximize work flow. Verify first article at each operation. Follows inspection procedure for each inspection. Follows all procedures such as signing off each step on the router.
DESCRIPTION DETAIL:
Quality Control Analysis — Conducting FAI and inspection of parts & processes to evaluate parts quality during machining.
Critical Thinking — Uses logic, math and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Time Management — Managing one’s own time to maximize production of parts.
Selective Attention — The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
Assist in keeping all machines running at or close to 100%.
Contribute to a team environment.
Think outside the box; assist in taking the company to the next level.
Work within all policies and procedures of the company. (Internal procedures, AS9100 requirements, etc.)
Regularly lift 30-50 pounds. Must be able to pass a random drug test. Must be a citizen of the USA or a legal resident alien.
